Listen for the sound of rushing water as Brooks Falls in San Pedro Park reaches capacity. Watch for wild mustard on the hillsides. 

2 Sharp Park Beach Cleanup. 10am to noon. Meet at the south end of Beach Blvd. near the picnic tables and the start of the levee.

Ah spring! Tree frogs are singing lovesongs, willows are in bloom and grey whales and baby calves rest in Pacifica's coves on their journey north.

Watch for Mission Blue Butterflies on Milagra Ridge, mamma and baby gray whales frolicking near the shoreline, and wildflowers everywhere.

May is the best time to see tiny fawns on the hillsides, velella on the beaches, and nesting hummingbirds in the trees.

It's time for brown pelicans to return from their southern vacation. Listen for stellar sea lion mating calls on Pedro Point.

Huge flocks of shearwaters follow the anchovies. Mid-month, the night sky is ablaze with meteor showers.

Steelhead trout begin to migrate to their spawning grounds upstream. Poison oak turns scarlet. Songbirds start to head south. 

20 California Coastal Cleanup Day, 9am-noon. We'll be cleaning six beaches in Pacifica as well as San Pedro Creek Watershed and recruiting teams for other Pacifica sites. Check back soon for details.
